Jay W. Brown is an associate in the Atlanta, GA office of Goodman McGuffey LLP working with the coverage/liability team.
Jay graduated from Valdosta State University in 1986 with a degree in Political Science. He earned his J.D. from the Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law in 1991. Upon graduation from law school, Jay commissioned as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy Judge Advocate General Corps. He was assigned to the Treasure Island Naval Station in San Francisco, CA where he served as a Courts Martial defense counsel. While in the Navy, Jay underwent several deployments on the aircraft carriers USS Carl Vinson and USS Abraham Lincoln, providing general legal assistance to military personnel. After receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1995, Jay became a member of the State Bar of California. While in California Jay practiced primarily in the area of Insurance defense.
In 2016, Jay relocated to the Atlanta area where he has continued to practice in the field of Insurance defense, representing individuals and corporations. In his 30 plus years of practice, Jay has tried over 200 jury and bench trials to verdict.
Jay is a third-degree black belt in Kajukenbo karate and trains at a local dojo. Jay enjoys mountain biking and trying new restaurants in the greater Atlanta area.
